Margiela Giveaway

Being the opinion Nazi that I am, you should be aware of the restraint exercised to refrain myself from machine-gun-rambling about this Margiela X H&M collaboration. In summary, I don't mind buying it, just don't buy into it. It's essential to point out that H&M's success is mostly measured in media impressions, not sales; meaning these collaborations generate "earned media" which is equivalent to millions of dollars in advertising which also includes brand awareness. So today, I am celebrating, not in honor of yesterday's media-hyped over-tweeted launch, but in honor of the actual Mr. Margiela (wherever he may be) as a true pioneer, and an ineffable inspiration. Which is why I am doing a very special Giveaway to commemorate him, featuring an authentic Maison Martin Margiela piece, no ties to H&M whatsoever (not that that's a bad thing).

Item: A pair of grey Maison Martin Margiela long mohair fingerless gloves with signature stitches and original swing tag still included.

    Ps: you love lovely hands with the polish (untranny-ly). I don't like my hands as they sometimes give the impression I could be a trans, but I seriously have a womb and my monthly moments of demonic PMT-ness, and still it keeps me from blogging photos as I don't like the Lady Gaga rumours too much on me. However, plastic surgery on hands isn't very sophisticated yet and I get scared if they would saw of parts of my bones, yikes
    (sorry, too much weirdy talk...happy friday and goodluck with the giveaways)

    1. Even if he wasn't, I doubt I'd be doing artisanal lined item giveaways prior 2009, it's more of a sentimental thing, I'm aware.

  16. I'm not sure how I felt about the MMM X H&M collaboration, Margiela being one of my favourite labels, it caused a bit of mix emotion. I'm a bit fed up waking up to news of a new H&M X Designer collaboration. I always feel the don't live up to the expectations and the quality feels always very poor compared to the normal garments H&M sell but that's just my opinion. I was close to buying something from the MMM X HM collection (not that there was anything in particular I wanted) but refrained myself and decided if I wanted a piece of Margiela, I'll wait for the real thing!     1. Yes, the oversized jeans were cool, regardless whether or not an H&M label is attached to it, as a garment it is a great piece. I feel that at a certain point, we're all just tired about dealing with the morality of these collaborations, it all just comes down to how serious you take fashion.

  32. I admire your opinion and agree with you fully.
    I had mixed feelings about this collaboration. It wasn't what Margiela stood for, or what Martin had initially set out to do when establishing this label.
    But you can't live too much in the past, or try to compare this collection to the main MMM label, so I see this collab more as a Diesel x h&m creation- to bring awareness of the Maison Martin Margiela today.
    In any matter, I'll happily follow you on your sites and look forward to reading more of your posts.
