I can't recall the exact moment of when I began to obsess over gold jewelry. As a child, I use to cringe at the thought of them as they reminded me of old, tacky, bling found adorned on Chinese geriatrics. The whole concept of 'gold' was just too 'in-your-face' to be even considered as a possible accessory, unless it came in some form of family heirloom in which case I'd safe guard it in a bank vault. Fast forward a decade (give or take), and I can't imagine leaving home without some Goldberg action, seen coated all over my fingers and wrists. My recent 'collaboratory' with dear friend Cristina Gabriele, founder of fine jewelry label Heart & Noble couldn't have came at a better time. Ever since seeing her exhibition a few months back featuring her cable tie inspired collection, I longed to share the pieces on the blog. It's understated chic and yes, it is all about the craftsmanship. What I've done here, some may argue that it's a bit excessive to fill up every joint on both my hands with at least one ring (giving Karl Lagerfeld a run for his infamous multi-ringed signature look minus a cat), but if one opts for a monochrome ensemble, then going OTT on one aspect of the body still keeps it.... what's the word? Provoking.
