Louis Vuitton S/S14 Press Day

Ending S/S14's PFW with Marc Jacob's finale collection for Louis Vuitton was a major bittersweet moment. The show had a gravitational melancholy and sense of twisted nostalgia that really stuck with you. How can it not when you were witnessing mourning showgirls? Ok, with the underlying sombre statement aside, the show had details and craftsmanship like no other. The Stephen Jones feather plume headdresses, the couture embroideries, the chain-appliqué denim beading, embellished Victorian football jackets, and the memorable Edie Campbell full body Stephen-Sprouse-graffiti moment. Marc sure did put the FUN back in FUNERAL (#TooSoon?). The only downside to an all-black show is, much of these jaw-dropping intricacies end up lost and blurred, which worked in symbiosis with the mood of the catwalk, but being the meticulous observation-ist that I am, I just had to see more of the good stuff. So I was fortunate enough to meet up with my favorite London blogger girls Tamara (The Glam & Glitter), Claire (Chouquette), and Julia (Julia Shutenko) and check out London's Vuitton press day to see the pieces up close and personal (believe me on how tempted I was to try on a headdress to appease my inner showgirl). As much as we can soak in the good ol' times Marc has bestowed upon us for the past 16 years, like in life we must graciously move on. Now that Nicolas Ghesquière is finally confirmed as the new creative director of LV, there's again much to look forward to. Change may not always be good, but it's always exciting. This uncertainty of the future really is the best part of fashion, not knowing what's around the proverbial corner. I'm ready to have my embroidered socks knocked off!

    1. I wholly concur, his last two collections really were amazing, but perhaps better to leave when you're at your best, rather than while you're depreciating, then forever you'd be immortalized as a great designer. Hmmm....
