Before I left Big Ben for the Big Apple, there was a night where I met Stella McCartney. Along with blogger buddies Claire and Tamara, we were invited to a Stella McCartney private collection preview at Harvey Nichols. I distinctly recall the event was on the night of the same day I flown in from my thirteen hour red eye from Hong Kong; take that and add harsh lighting, there's no masking a haggard face. So to me, it was a blurry sea of silly banters, sipping fruity cocktails, nibbling away on vegetarian canapes, and of course making several wardrobe changes into the new Spring collection. But the 'organic' cherry on the 'vegan' cake has to go to our hearty chat with the woman-in-charge. Ya' know, stuff like her thoughts and inspirations behind her pieces, like the Beckett bag whose directional design initially came from the idea of functional travel packing and eco-friendly constructions. Plus with Stella commenting on how she loves it when boys wear her clothes (and chunky heels *cough*), I felt oddly validated #DontJudge. We were then led upstairs to the Q&A session hosted by Vogue’s Contributing Editor Christa D’Souza, where the infos got juicier, and the convos got funnier (there was a point where Ms. McCartney herself serenaded us with a freestyle country tune). Along the interview, models sporting lipstick bejeweled jacquard tunics, faux snakeskin boxer shorts, machine-embroidered lace dresses, paired with hexagon-mirrored clutches and lollipops gracefully traipsed around us. I'm convinced that several of the pieces seen before me would find its cheeky way into my closet, one way or another.
Special thanks to the Stella McCartney PR and Design Team for this wonderful event
